Students of BTBU went to Macau University of Science and Technology to carry out winter vacation exchange and research programs

In order to broaden the global vision of students and enhance academic exchanges with universities in Hong Kong and Macau, 12 students from 5 colleges of BTBU went to Macau University of Science and Technology for a 7-day research and exchange activity from January 12th to 18th.
This winter research and study program focused on three major themes, including artificial intelligence and engineering applications, modern economic and management professional applications, and visual aesthetics and artistic creativity in three academic directions. During the 7-day study, 12 students entered different theme-based studies according to their respective majors. Students from School of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, through in-class theoretical learning and group discussions on cutting-edge artificial intelligence theories, analyzed and elaborated on the problems that artificial intelligence technology can solve in the industry, the challenges it faces, and possible solutions. Students from Business School and School of Language and Communication, by learning and applying artificial intelligence technology, combined with their majors to design innovative solutions and explore new professional development directions. Students from School of Design and Art added new vitality to their design creations through interdisciplinary learning and cutting-edge technologies. Through links such as course completion presentations, model training, public explanations, and mutual Q&A, the participating students gained a deeper and more practical understanding of the content covered by the courses. The excellent performances of the students also won unanimous praise from the teachers of Macau University of Science and Technology.


In terms of humanities learning, the research and study group paid on-site visits to the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine of Macau University of Science and Technology, the Konze Innovation and Technology Center, the Information Technology Exhibition Hall, and the Jinmu Engineering Design Laboratory, experiencing the charm of scientific and technological innovation up close and learning about the strong humanistic atmosphere and innovative academic environment of the school. The research and study group also went deep into the Historic Centre of Macau and the Macau Science Centre, exploring the unique urban governance model of Macau, learning about the outstanding achievements of Macau in urban planning, social services, and innovation policies, and deepening their understanding of Macau’s cultural heritage inheritance, business environment, and innovation ecosystem.

Before the departure of the research and study group, the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office of BTBU, in conjunction with the School of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, meticulously prepared for various activities of the research and study group and provided pre-trip training for the team leader teachers and student groups to ensure the smooth progress of the research and study activity in Macau. The members of the research and study group consistently said that this research and study activity was intensively arranged and rich in content. They had an immersive experience in the learning and living environment of Macau University of Science and Technology, felt the development and achievements of higher education in Macau since its return to China, as well as the characteristics and advantages of Macau’s higher education, injecting new vitality and thoughts into their future academic development and career planning.
